Double victory for Austria at the Innsbruck BeachEvent: Berger/Hohenauer and Grössig/Trummer win gold

Innsbruck, 01.06.2025 - What a finish! The final day of the Innsbruck BeachEvent 2025 offered everything that makes a beach volleyball heart beat faster and was a triumph across the board: excitement, emotion and red-white-red success for Austria. Despite the forecast thunderstorms, the weather played along, bright sunshine, a full grandstand and boundless enthusiasm made the final day a successful day for players and fans alike. When the last balls were played in the late afternoon, it was clear: Austria had won both the men's and women's finals.

In front of a sold-out crowd, young stars Lia Berger and Lilli Hohenauer secured the title in the women's competition with an almost perfect performance. In the final, the two Austrians beat Kun/Villám from Hungary in two clear sets (21:14, 21:11). They had also beaten the Czech team Lorenzova/Tomasova 2:0 (21:18, 21:19) in the semi-finals. The U18 European champions thus confirmed their improving form and proved once again that they are a force to be reckoned with in the future. 

The men's final finally set the mood on the Marktplatz when Laurenc Grössig and Maximilian Trummer showed absolute determination against the Slovaks Nemec/Petruf. In 42 minutes, they secured a clear 2:0 victory (22:20, 21:13) to complete a historic doubles win for Austria. 

They had previously won the Austrian semi-final against Friedl/Schnetzer 2:0 (25:23, 21:17) in an intense duel. But Friedl/Schnetzer also showed their fighting spirit: in a thrilling three-set match for third place, they took bronze against the Czech duo Oliva/Kurka.

The final day not only marked the end of a sporting tournament weekend, but also an emotional summer highlight in the heart of the city. The organizers are more than satisfied: full stands, fair matches, two gold medals for Austria and an audience that celebrated every single ball.  The Innsbruck BeachEvent 2025 will be remembered as a complete success - sporty, atmospheric and with a lot of heart.
